Hemorrhoids, more commonly known as piles are a very painful condition that people get. The causes for getting hemorrhoids is attributed to irregular bowel movements especially constipation and diarrhea, a diet that is low in fiber, pregnancy, lack of exercises, a lot of intra abdominal pressure and aging to name a few. Diet for hemorrhoids is one that is high in dietary fiber and by increasing their intake, problems relating to this condition can be eradicated. Food for hemorrhoids include fresh fruits and vegetables, cereals and whole grains as they are rich sources of fiber that cannot be digested easily and as it slowly moves through the small intestine, it takes in more water and by the time it has reached the colon, the stool is formed bulky, smooth and soft. This in turn lowers pressure on the rectum which is the primary cause for getting hemorrhoids in the first place. Other foods that are rich in fiber and are a part of diet for piles include brown rice, legumes, rolled oats, unprocessed oatmeal, lettuce, carrots, cabbage, green peas, apples, figs, oranges, raisins, prunes and eggplant. You also need to drink a lot of water along with other fluids throughout the day.
Foods to avoid hemorrhoids include all processed and refined foods, foods that contain a lot of oil and fat and refined carbohydrates that come in the form of sugary foods. These foods are not a good option at all as they lack fiber as well a number of essential nutrients that are required by the body. When you decide to include fiber in your diet, do not do that in one go but gradually increase it by adding it to your meals that you eat throughout the day. Increase in your consumption of water at the same time is very important because if you do not do so, it may lead to cramps in the abdomen, bloating, belching and flatulence. Moreover, water will prevent the stools from becoming hard and will also lessen the strain that is put on the rectal muscles. Hemorrhoids nutrition can also be got by eating sweet potatoes that are rich in vitamin B, potassium and iron and by eating flax seeds that contain omega 3 fatty acids which in turn help to reduce the pain and inflammation. Whenever you get natures call, do not control it but go to the toilet immediately and let it out as that can further add to your problem.
